CHETNA SINHA – an Indian social activist dedicated to empowering women in drought-prone areas of rural India. Her journey was deeply influenced by Lok Nayak, Jai Prakash Narayan, whose call for Civil Liberties and Social Justice resonated deeply with her. This sparked her intense activism, eventually leading her to focus on empowering and economically uplifting women.

As the founder and chairperson of the Mann Deshi Mahila Sahkari Bank, a microfinance bank, she has made significant strides in this direction. The bank has reached over 3,10,000 women, with 84,000 of them being borrowers. Through financial support and emotional encouragement, these women have been able to embark on successful entrepreneurial ventures, gaining independence and self-sufficiency.

Additionally, she is the founder and president of the Mann Deshi Foundation, furthering her mission to empower women and create lasting change in rural communities. Her dedication and commitment to the cause of women’s empowerment serve as an inspiration to many, highlighting the transformative power of grassroots activism.
