Arjun Kapoor bats for Baahubali 2
Arjun Kapoor, who is awaiting the release of Mohit Suri’s Half Girlfriend, took on the nay sayer’s in the industry who were questioning how come a dubbed film like Baahubali2 could make more money than the biggest Hindi films.
“Why are we so negative, why cant we celebrate that a film has successfully crossed the language boundary. It takes a vision to create a piece like Baahubali. The makers devoted 2 years to come up with this sequel. Also the first film had already grossed 100 cr’s in the Hindi market, so it had a base. Plus we need to accept hits and flops are a part of the game even in Hollywood . Also it is wrong to compare 2 films, each film has a different cost. My film Ki And Ka was released in just 1000 screens and made 7 crores. Not all films can have the liberty of multi language releases. Baahubali2 was released in five language. Even if a Hindi flick is dubbed in Tamil, it is not dubbed in Punjabi and other north languages. That was the genius of the makers of the Telugu blockbuster.”
Arjun goes on, “ Having said that I do accept that content here has gone haywire, we need a vision. The biggest problem is that because making of films has become so expensive, nobody wants to take a chance. There is no single pan Hindi market, audiences in Tier1 does not want same stuff as tier 2 or tier 3 viewers.”
