Rohini SalianLaw (Karnataka, India) 2005
ROHINI SALIAN – She was already showing promise as an artist, dabbling with brushes and paints in Mangalore, when she made a bold decision to switch paths and pursue law in Mumbai. As a Public Prosecutor in Mumbai Courts, she found herself navigating the treacherous waters of the underworld, facing off against terrorists, rapists, and powerful political figures. Despite the intense pressure and challenges, she stood firm in her convictions.
There was a moment when she contemplated stepping away from her duties, but her admirers convinced her to return. Her unwavering commitment to justice was evident when an accused once questioned her compassion, to which she fearlessly replied, “Who said I am a woman? In court, I leave my ‘womanhood’ at home.” Her dedication to her duty is truly commendable, setting a remarkable example for others to follow.
