MALLIKA JAGAD – The vibrant atmosphere of celebration at Mumbai’s luxurious Taj Mahal Hotel on that fateful evening of November 26, 2008, was shattered by the deafening sound of gunfire as terrorists unleashed chaos and terror. Amidst the chaos, a 24-year-old banquet manager sprang into action, displaying extraordinary bravery and leadership.

With the resolute determination to save lives, she and her colleagues swiftly guided the panicked guests to safety, hiding them behind secure doors and plunging the area into darkness to evade the terrorists. Showing remarkable presence of mind and courage beyond her years, she began evacuating people through windows, ensuring their safety amidst the unfolding tragedy.

In her own words, “It was my responsibility… I may have been the youngest person in the room, but I was still doing my job.” Her quick thinking and selfless actions saved numerous lives, earning her the title of a true “Braveheart” who outwitted the terrorists and emerged as a symbol of courage and resilience in the face of adversity.
