Anjali Bhagwat– a remarkable Indian shooter who achieved the pinnacle of success in her sport. In 2002, she became the World No. 1 in the 10m Air Rifle category and clinched her first World Cup Final victory in Milan. Anjali’s list of accolades includes winning the ISSF Champion of Champions award and being the sole Indian to win the ISSF Champions’ Trophy in the Air Rifle Men & Women mixed event at Munich in 2002.
Representing India in three consecutive Olympics, she reached the finals at the Sydney Olympics, a groundbreaking achievement for an Indian female shooter. Her medal tally includes 31 Gold, 23 Silver, and 7 Bronze medals, with 13 new records set in international competitions. In national competitions in India, she has secured 55 Gold, 35 Silver, and 16 Bronze medals, along with 8 new records.
She considers her victory as the Champions of Champions in 2002 as the highlight of her career, a moment she cherishes as the best. To this day, she remains the only Indian to have ever claimed this prestigious title, solidifying her legacy as one of India’s greatest shooters.
